PremierTec Ultra Clean Magnetic Coupled Mixer

Ultra Clean Magnetic Mixer                                                                                            US Patent No. 7,396,153  (International Patent Pending)

PremierTec® has taken Magnetic Mixing to the next level with the New Ultra Clean Magnetic Mixer. As with traditional magnetic mixers, there are permanent magnets inside the body of the impeller. These magnets are magnetically coupled through the bottom of the mixing vessel to the magnets in the drive unit. A seal through the vessel is not required.

The unique design of the Ultra Clean Mixer maintains the original strength of the earth magnets.

This design advantage actually causes the impeller to “float” and enables a stronger coupling between the impeller and the driving magnets. The male bearing guides and stabilizes the impeller, but does not touch it during the mixing process.

The “floating” impeller also allows the Ultra Clean Mixer to run in excess of 700 RPMs.

The Ultra Clean Mixer is CIP (Clean in Place) and SIP (Steam in Place)

The Ultra Clean Mixer can achieve gentle agitation or turbulent mixing.

MIXER COMPONENTS

Patented Impeller:  The impeller body size and wing size can be specified based on tank size and mixing needs.  Body size options are 3 3/8” and 4 ¾” .  Wing size options are 4”-8”.  Shown here is the 4 3/4” body and 8” wings.  US Patent No. 7,396,153

Bearings: The Male Stationary Bearing (guide bearing), sits on top of the weld in plate and is used as a guide for the impeller.

The Female bearing (rotating bearing) is crimped into the center of the impeller body, therefore no glue or adhesives are used.

Standard bearing material is Zirconium Oxide. Tungsten Carbide and Silicone Carbide are available as options.

Weld In Plate:  The weld plate is welded into the bottom of the tank.

Drive Unit including Motor, Gearbox, Driving Magnet:  The drive unit mounts to the weld plate on the outside of the tank and houses the driving magnets.

Variable Speed Control Box (AC or DC):  The Allen Bradley control box is available as an option to complete the full mixing solution.

The key advantages of our design are:

  • Stronger coupling between the Impeller and the Driving Magnets: During manufacturing if you weld too close to the magnets, it causes the magnets to lose some of their strength. Our manufacturing methods enable the magnets to keep their full strength. By having stronger magnets we have a stronger coupling between the impeller and the driving magnets on the outside of the tank. This allows us to run heavier (more viscous products). So far, we have measured 20% stronger coupling than what was used before in the industry.

  • The Impeller “floats”: The stronger coupling described above actually causes the Impeller to “float” and there is little to no contact between the Stationary Guide Bearing and the Rotating Impeller Bearing.

  • Can achieve high agitation without a vortex: The Ultra Clean Mixer has eight curved wings so that it will move more product at a lower speed than a traditional 4 wing impeller.

  • Can achieve high agitation with a vortex: Since the Impeller “floats” the mixer can run in excess of 700 RPMs.

  • Reduced wear on the Stationary Bearing: The “floating” impeller practically eliminates wear on the bearings.

  • Reduced contamination & product stagnation: The “floating” impeller eliminates product from stagnating on the bearing surfaces.

  • Cleanability: The impeller floats and therefore it can run during CIP and after, until the last drop has left the tank.

  • Mixes every single drop in the tank: Since the impeller floats there is not product stagnation between the bearings.

  • No glue or adhesives used: The rotating bearing is crimped into the impeller.
